The Last Song by Nicole Marques

I was living in New York City on 09/11 and experienced that tragedy along with many people.
On the following Saturday there was a Memorial on television that I was watching while getting ready to go food shopping, still shaken up as I could hear F-16 planes in the sky.
At the time I owned a beautiful cinnamon canary that unfortunately would not sing except for a few very discreet notes. His home was located next to the TV set in the living room.
During the Memorial that morning a lady sang the National Anthem in a strong, beautiful voice, the emotion could almost be touched.
After the first few notes something very unusual happened, Berry my bird started to sing along with the lady on TV, in a magnificent voice going crescendo up until the end of the National Anthem.
I must tell you that for a while I was almost scared, the voice was so deep and strong, following the notes so well that it seemed unnatural, like the bird could feel the energy and was responding in its own way to the emotion and intensity of the moment.
Berry never, ever sang after that!
His first (and last) real song was its personal tribute to the tragedy I believe.

Thanks Nicole for sharing your lovely story about Berry:)
